Alcohol Use Related Drop In Services
Provider: VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA - ALCOHOL SERVICES - CENTRAL CITY SCREENING AND EVALUATION SERVICES
The program provides substance use disorder services for low-income adults age 18 and older in Los Angeles. Services include 12-step meetings, crisis intervention, alcohol and drug detoxification, a drop-in center, and specialized information and referral. Applicants must have a primary problem of alcoholism or drug use disorder. The program cannot assist people who need extensive medical attention or nursing care, who are combative or unwilling to follow program rules, or people who are severely mentally ill. There are no geographic restrictions.
Crisis intervention services are available to those individuals who are already part of the treatment program, walk-ins for this treatment are not received at this facility.
The drop-in center provides screening and evaluation, specialized information and referral, group discussions, social and recreational activities, restrooms, showers, snacks, and laundry and clothing services. The center includes sobering beds for people who are inebriated and provides screening for immediate and longer-term needs.
The center also provides screening for the agency's 45-day social model transitional recovery program. In addition, staff are available to provide community education programs about alcoholism and drug abuse and the agency's services on request. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in for services. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
