Benefits Assistance ( Chronic/Severe Mental Illness )

The agency provides services for people with disabilities in Los Angeles County. Services include benefits assistance, disability rights groups, group advocacy, legal counseling, legislative advocacy, organizational development and management services, public awareness education, and welfare rights assistance. There are no geographic restrictions.
Services include phone and printed information about legal rights; referral to other advocacy services; advocacy training for people with disabilities and other interested persons; and technical assistance for agencies which want to establish or enhance advocacy services for clients with disabilities.
The agency also provides direct representation of clients which may include investigation, negotiation, and representation in administrative hearings and in court.
The organization provides information about rights and services which are guaranteed by federal and state law; due process protections; abuse and neglect in residential facilities; government financial entitlements and benefits; non-discrimination provisions of state and federal law; and special education, habilitation and rehabilitation services. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for information or to make an intake appointment. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services, although donations are accepted.
