The agency provides volunteer opportunities to individuals over the age of 16 who live in Los Angeles County. Services include special event support volunteer opportunities and tutoring volunteer opportunities. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Volunteers who are over the age of 18 and who work with children must submit to a fingerprint background check and provide proof of a negative TB test. There are no geographic restrictions.

Tutoring volunteers provide help in reading and mathematics to elementary and middle school children.

Special event volunteers help organize, staff and clean up agency events including an annual Easter Party and an annual Walk-a-thon. LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH Volunteers are not required to speak any language other than English, however, bilingual volunteers are encouraged to apply. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call the agency to apply to become a volunteer. Volunteers must complete a written application and the agency completes an in-person interview. The agency checks references and completes a fingerprint background check on all volunteers over 18 years of age. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Volunteers over 18 years of age must pay for a fingerprinting background check ($12 to $15) and for their personal physician to complete a TB test.
