The agency provides law enforcement services for the city of Torrance. Services include abandoned vehicle reporting/removal, adult fingerprinting, adult sexual assault prevention, business security evaluations, crime prevention, crime victim support, law enforcement complaints, municipal police, neighborhood watch programs, personal safety education, police reports, police ride-alongs, residential security evaluations, technical assistance specializations, and temporary restraining order assistance. Services are restricted to the city of Torrance.

Temporary restraining order assistance is provided on a short term (72 hrs.), emergency basis only. Regular TROs must be applied for at a Superior Court location.

The department's crime prevention programs include presentations for children and youth in local schools, and presentations for adults and business groups. Staff assist people to form block parent programs and neighborhood watch groups.

The agency's crime prevention programs for adults include rape awareness, home and personal security, and shoplifting presentations for the community and businesses as well as a special safety program for seniors. It also helps to organize Neighborhood Watch programs.

The agency fingerprints adult residents, on request, who are applying for state, county, or city licensing for a business or for employment. APPLICATION PROCEDURE In an emergency call 911; for other situations call the non-emergency number. A TDD is also available for hearing-impaired people. People who are interested in becoming reserve officers obtain an application at the station. To obtain a copy of a police report, walk in or submit a request by mail. Only victims or their authorized representatives may obtain a copy of a police report. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for most services. The fee for adult fingerprinting is $16.00, the fee for police reports is $1.00
