Crime Victim Accompaniment Services ( Sexual Assault Issues )

Provider: ANTELOPE VALLEY HOSPITAL

The hospital provides sexual assault services for people of all ages in the Antelope Valley. Services include crime victim accompaniment services, sexual assault hotlines and volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.

The Forensic Services Unit provides a 24-hour hotline, information and referral, crisis intervention and ongoing counseling, accompaniment services and support. Community education programs about sexual assault-related issues are also available. Advocates can arrange to meet individuals at hospitals in their area to support them through examinations and treatment and can accompany them to court.

The program recruits, trains and utilizes volunteers age 21 and older to act as advocates for survivors and to provide community education. Volunteers must participate in a 60 hour training program. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in the hospital for information; a TDD number is available for people who have hearing disabilities. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for hotline services; other services vary.
