Crisis Intervention

Provider: VIOLENCE INTERVENTION PROGRAM - COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH CENTER

The program provides domestic violence services to people who are in Los Angeles County. Services include case/care managment, crisis intervention, dating violence prevention, and sexual assault treatment, all targeted for battered women, men and abused children. There are no geographic restrictions.

The 24-hour Domestic Violence Response Team serves women and men at LAC USC Medical Center who have been abused by their intimate partner. Advocates respond to the hospital at all hours of the day and night. The team provides crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and case management assistance. The program also provides support for the victim's children, who also receive treatment, and referrals to ongoing counseling, shelter, clothing, food, transportation and educational support.

The agency also provides a school-based dating violence prevention program, Between Men/Between Women. The program provides an opportunity for students to discuss domestic violence they have witnessed and to learn to build respectful and equitable relationships to prevent the continuation of the cycle of violence. It is the only school-based domestic violence prevention program that provides therapeutic support for both male and female students in Los Angeles County.
