The organization provides victims of crime support for people of all ages in the United States. Services include directory publication, in-person crisis intervention, legislative advocacy, printed materials, public awareness and education, a speakers bureau, specialized information and referral, technical assistance, and telephone crisis intervention. There are no geographic restrictions.

Printed materials include directories of local and national agencies that provide services targeted to victims of crime and general helpful information for victims and their family members and friends.

Crisis-intervention is provided by telephone and in-person. Trained crisis counselors assist callers with support, information and referrals for additional services. The organization also provides teams of volunteer crisis counselors that provide in-person assistance and support in times of disaster or major crimes. Volunteers will assist the local decision-makers and caregivers by providing training and assistance to help them through the disaster.

The organization provides public awareness and education through national and local conferences, community outreach, printed materials, and through organization membership. Members are asked to assist in fund raising, event planning and coordination, and in crisis counseling and assistance. In addition, speakers are available to provide informational presentations on issues relating to crime and victims of crime. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call the toll-free helpline for services or for referrals. Call, write or visit the organization's website for general information, to order printed materials, or to become a member or volunteer. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for most services; there are fixed fees for printed materials. Membership fees range from $55 to $100 annually per individual and $750 for an individual life membership. Group discounts may be available for multiple memberships from the same agency.
