The agency provides transportation services in the City of Whittier. Services includes a disability related transportation and senior ride programs. Services are restricted to the City of Whittier.

The agency provides the Whittier Dial-A-Ride program for seniors who are age 60 and over as well as for people who have disabilities. The Dial-A-Ride program uses vans which have wheelchair lifts to provide both preshceduled and demand-response, curb-to-curb and door-to-door transportation to any location within the city of Whittier. People who hold Dial-A-Ride cards call to make arrangements for service.

The Dial-A-Ride Plus program is for medical appointments only. Medical appointments may be outside the city of Whittier. Individuals who are eligible for Dial-A-Ride services through the city of Whittier are eligible. APPLICATION PROCEDURE For Dial-A-Ride services, call or visit the Uptown Senior Citizen's Center at 13225 Walnut St. or Parnell Park Center at 15390 Lambert Rd. to apply and purchase a pre-paid ride card; proof of age or disability is required. After purchasing a ride card, people may call the dispatch office to request transportation services. A call at least 24 hours in advance is recommended for service to established appointments, but people may also call for trips the same day on an availability basis.

There is no same day service available for holidays; 24 hour advanced reservations are required.

Transportation for DAR Plus is to major medical facilities only, call to check whether or not a specific site qualifies. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Dial-A-Ride cards may be purchased in increments of $5 (for 10 rides) and $10 (for 20 rides). A $15 unlimited ride monthly pass is available for low income riders with proof of annual income.

Dial-A-Ride Plus cards can be purchased in increments of $12 and $24.

Dial-A-Ride service is available seven days per week. Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 9:00pm; Saturday and Sunday, 8:00am to 9:00pm; holiday hours, 8:00am to 4:00pm. People may apply for Dial-A-Ride at the Whittier Senior Citizen's Center Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
