Provider: CITY OF DOWNEY PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT - TRANSIT PROGRAM

The program provides curb-to-curb shared ride para-transit services for seniors age 65 and older and for Downey residents who have disabilities. Services include disability related transportation, general paratransit/community ride programs, and senior ride programs. Transportation for any purpose is available within the city limits. Service outside the city is provided for disabled students to Cerritos College, or for any eligible person to visit the Kaiser facilities in Bellflower.

Buses are lift-equipped for riders who use wheelchairs. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for information. Reservations for medical appointments are accepted up to seven days in advance; reservations for shopping and other non-medical trips are accepted not more than 24 hours in advance on a space available basis. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE The fare for a one-way trip is $.50, Personal Care Attendants over the age of 17 are free.
