Disease/Disability Information ( AIDS/HIV Issues )
Provider: LOS ANGELES LGBT CENTER - ADMINISTRATION
The Positive Images program provides public awareness/education on AIDS/HIV issues. Services include a program of community forums that discuss personal, social, emotional, and health related issues facing the HIV positive community and their friends and family. The goal of the program is to reduce the social stigma related to HIV and to increase self-advocacy among participants.
The program administers an online chatline that provides client-to-client networking for people living with HIV and AIDS as well as for their friends and families. The website also provides links to referrals for geographically convenient community resources. The Positive Images program also provides social events, volunteer opportunities, and a social marketing campaign and website to publicize the goals of the project.
HIV-prevention programs include In the Moment, a web-based soap opera that follows the lives of a group of young gay guys in West Hollywood, as well as programs tailored to reach those at the highest risk for HIV infection: young gay and bisexual men of color. lagaycenter.org/wellness APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in to apply; visit the website for information.
