Domestic Violence Shelters ( Single Women )

The agency provides a shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children of any age who are in the Long Beach and surrounding areas. Services include domestic violence shelters. There are no geographic restrictions.

The program will accept victims who have come from outside California fleeing a batterer. The shelter accepts victims who have been battered by a spouse, heterosexual partner. The shelter can serve single men, women, pregnant women and women who have disabilities, including wheelchair users, if they can care for themselves.

Services include meals; individual, group, and family counseling; parenting education; advocacy with medical, legal, welfare and other relevant service agencies; TRO assistance; and other supportive services.

Individual and family counseling, play therapy and support groups for children are also provided.

The program works with agencies to provide school, tutors, clothes, health care, outside activities and child care. A support group and individual counseling are offered for women which may attend after they leave the shelter. The shelter has second stage housing. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call to apply. Referring agencies call the shelter to confirm space availability and then conference the caller with the shelter for an intake interview. ID is requested but not required. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for service.
