The program provides outpatient substance use disorder services for men and women age 18 and older in the greater Los Angeles area. Services are targeted, but not restricted, to African American residents of South Central Los Angeles and Watts. Services include centralized intake for drug use disorder, counseling, day treatment, self-help groups, specialized drug use disorder information and referral, and substance use disorder education and prevention.

The program provides clients with individualized treatment plans and information and referral to other community resources. Clients go to the center daily for counseling, nutrition education and parenting classes; drug testing is also included in the program. The day treatment unit provides a structured environment for recovering substance abusers and offers weekend social and recreational activities.

The specialized drug use disorder information and referral is provided through the Coastal Region Community Resource Center and includes centralized intake and assessment, crisis intervention and specialized information and referral. Client services include case management, on-site medical screenings and transportation to drug treatment. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in to apply or for information. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for education and prevention services, or for twelve-step mutual support groups. Counseling fees are based on ability to pay; the minimum fee is $25 per month for five visits per week. There is a fixed fee of $35 for specialized information and referral and centralized intake. Medicare and private insurance are accepted as payment. No one is denied service because of inability to pay.
