Provider: SPECIAL SERVICE FOR GROUPS - OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY TRAINING PROGRAM

The program provides youth services for at risk youth, ages 5 to 21, in Los Angeles County. Services include case management, counseling services, early intervention for mental illness, job readiness, WIOA programs, occupational therapy, and substance abuse treatment for youth who are primarily referred by their alternative or regular high schools or by a social service agency. The program targets youth with mental health diagnoses, substance abuse problems or other at-risk factors . There are geographic restrictions for some programs.

The program provides a youth drop in center for recreational and educational purposes. It also provides an extended day care program at Norwood Elementary School called the Parents Neighborhood Youth Program. Services are restricted to Norwood students only.

The Center for the Assessment and Prevention of Prodromal States (CAPPS) provides mental health services for adolescents and young adults, ages 16 to 25. The Center assists individuals who display early symptoms of psychosis, but who do not meet the criteria for psychotic diagnosis. After an individual is enrolled in the program, the client and their family participate in family counseling. In addition, treatment focuses on psycho-education, problem solving techniques, and communication skills. APPLICATION PROCEDURE An appointment is required. A referral is usually provided, however, youth or families may also self-refer. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Fees vary for services. Medi-Cal is accepted. Financial assistance is available for individuals who meet eligibility criteria.
