Emergency Room Care ( Veterans )

Provider: VETERANS ADMINISTRATION GREATER LOS ANGELES HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

The center provides hospital services for veterans who have been honorably discharged or released from active military service. Services include AIDS treatment services, dental hygiene services, domiciliary nursing home services, eye care services, eye screening services, general laboratory test services, home health services, hospice care services, inpatient and outpatient medical care, internal medicine services, a medical information line, prescription medication services, physical therapy services and respite care. Services are provided at 12 locations. There are no geographic restrictions.

The center provides a full range of diagnostic, treatment, and follow up services for all types of health problems and also offers specialized services for people who have particular conditions. These services include a hospice program for people who have cancer; and a multiple sclerosis treatment center which offers comprehensive diagnostic, treatment, counseling, and follow up services for people who have that condition. The domiciliary provides non-intensive inpatient medical treatment, rehabilitation and support in a structured environment for people who because of their disabilities are unable to provide adequately for themselves in the community.

Outpatient health services are provided at 8 Community-based sites in Los Angeles County.

The VA Healthcare System also provides a 24 hour Nurse Advice line for veterans, that offers answers to common health questions.

Respite care is provided to veteran caregivers for at least 30 days per year. Services must be arranged through the VA case manager.

VA Dental Insurance Program (VADIP) is a reduced-cost option for dental insurance for individuals who are enrolled in the VA Healthcare program or the Civilian Health and Medical Program (CHAMPVA). Benefits are administered either through Delta Dental or MetLife. Clinics who accept this insurance vary. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call to apply. An appointment is required. Walk- ins will be seen 8:00am to 3:00pm and given an appointment if not an urgent case. The Antelope Valley Outpatient Clinic does not accept walk-in patients. Call for an appointment.
