Family Counseling
Provider: NEW CHOICES COUNSELING CENTER
The agency provides family life education for parents who live in Los Angeles County. Services include anger management, court ordered parenting programs, conjoint counseling, family counseling, sexual assault counseling and spouse/domestic partner abuse prevention. There are no geographic restrictions.
211 L A County refers only to this private practice's L A County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) programs; it does not refer to private practices for general mental health services.
The anger management classes, court ordered parenting programs and spouse/domestic partner education classes are 16 weeks and a certificate of completion is provided at the end of the classes.
The anger management and court ordered parenting programs are for both men and women.
The spouse/domestic partner abuse prevention class has a group for women and a separate group for men. There is a different prevention topic every week. Also included is self esteem development and role playing.
Family counseling involves the parent/s and child or children and can be court ordered.
Conjoint counseling provides couples and relationship classes, which can be with same sex couples or with opposite sex couples.
Sexual abuse awareness is available through individual sessions or classes for victims and/or parents of victims.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Call for information. An appointment is required. Documentation required includes California ID or Drivers License, proof of income and DCFS court documents if applicable.
