Family Preservation Programs
Provider: ALLIES FOR EVERY CHILD
The agency provides family preservation services for families needing support and those who are involved with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and living in the West Los Angeles area. Services include family preservation programs and family support centers/outreach. Geographic restrictions apply for some services.
Families may be referred by DCFS or the Probation Department for abuse or neglect. Intense family preservation services begin with an in-home or on-site assessment. Staff develop individualized support plans for at-risk families to address issues including violence, substance abuse, isolation and depression. Individual and family counseling, parenting classes, and extensive case management are provided.
The agency also contracts with DCFS to provide Prevention and Aftercare services for families involved with DCFS, as well as those who are self referred, who are living in SPA 5. The program provides activities, resources and supports such as family fun nights and parent-child or family-centered activities, parenting education classes, financial literacy instruction and peer support groups. Staff may provide home visits; families may be linked to additional resources including health and mental health care, educational and vocational services and legal services, as needed. Concrete support for basic family needs such as clothing, food, household furnishings, school supplies, utilities, housing assistance, transportation and minor repairs may also be available. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call to apply; an appointment is preferred. A referral is required from DCFS or Probation Department for family preservation services.
