P-EBT 3.0

P-EBT 3.0 for 2022 DOES NOT need to be applied for. P-EBT cards are automatically sent to eligible families based on information from other programs, including CalFresh Food benefits and free or reduced-price school meals.

Timing of cards being sent out depends on the age of your child.

For School-Aged Children (TK-12):
California will begin mailing P-EBT 3.0 cards for school-aged children in November 2022 for benefit months August through December 2021. The cards will then be reloaded in December 2022 for benefit months January through August 2022 for existing cardholders. New P-EBT 3.0 cards will be mailed out to any school-aged children that are only eligible for benefit months January through August 2022 in December 2022. P-EBT 3.0 cards will be mailed in alphabetical order based on first name.

For Young Children (under 6)
P-EBT 3.0 cards for young children under age six will begin being mailed in October 2022 for benefit months August through December 2021. The cards will be reloaded in November 2022 for benefit months January through August 2022 for existing cardholders. New P-EBT 3.0 cards will be mailed out to any young children that are only eligible for benefit months January through August 2022 in November 2022. P-EBT 3.0 cards will be mailed in alphabetical order based on first name.

CalFresh Emergency Allotment
The Food and Nutrition Service will approve requests for the additional benefits on a month-by-month basis. There is no need for customers to contact DPSS to request Emergency Allotments.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE DPSS offices are open for in-person services. Program information and application are also available via Customer Service Centers at 866-613-3777 and IHSS Helpline at 888-822-9622 and/or its website. Paper applications are available for pick-up and drop-off at local DPSS offices, from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
