The department provides law enforcement services and crime prevention programs for Monterey Park residents. Services include abandoned vehicle reporting, adult fingerprinting, child fingerprinting, crime prevention, emergency protective orders, fraud prevention, municipal police, neighborhood watch programs, police reports, residential security evaluations, and temporary restraining orders services. Services are restricted to the city of Monterey Park.

Fingerprinting is available for adult employment and citizenship/immigration identification and background checks.

Temporary restraining order assistance is provided on a short term (72 hrs.), emergency basis only. Regular TROs must be applied for at a Superior Court location.

The Community Relations Department provides a variety of crime prevention programs which include, home security inspections, organization of Neighborhood and Business Watch programs, and crime prevention presentations on various topics. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in for information or police services. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for most services. The fee for fingerprinting (live scan) ranges from $28.00 to over $79.00 depending on forms required; police reports cost $.15 per page.
