General Disaster Information

The program provides disaster services in the greater Los Angeles area. Services include community disaster education, disaster donations coordination, disaster preparedness information, disaster relief/recovery organizations, disaster survivor inquiries, earthquake preparedness information, foreign disaster information, foreign disaster relief, foreign disaster welfare inquiries, general disaster information, mass care shelters and mass feeding services. There are geographic restrictions.

The services the Red Cross provides during a disaster such as a wildfire or earthquake are subject to change. Information on any assistance provided during an active event will be provided as a separate event. This number is not to be used during active disaster and recovery events.

Disaster preparedness is provided through classes and community presentations which cover general disaster preparedness and earthquake safety and distribution of materials which help individuals and families prepare for an earthquake.
Domestic disaster relief services are provided for people who have been affected by a chemical spill, civil disturbance, earthquake, fire, flood, or other disaster. Services include financial assistance, information and referral, emergency shelter and vouchers to help people obtain food, clothing and replacement medications.

The agency coordinates local donations of cash and goods for disaster response. It also assists local residents to locate or obtain information about relatives in other areas of the United States or in other countries when a disaster occurs abroad. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in for information or assistance. Following a disaster, people may go directly to the closest disaster relief center. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
