General Physical Examinations ( Low Income )

Provider: ST. JOHN'S WELL CHILD AND FAMILY CENTER

The center provides primary health care and prevention services for low-income people of all ages who live in the Los Angeles County area. Services include community and contract clinic services; diabetes screening, a diabetes clinic, child health and disability prevention (CHDP) exams for children age 18 and younger, childhood immunizations; diabetes screening, a diabetes clinic; mobile health care; school-based clinics for students and children in school catchment areas; and well-child care. No emergency services are provided.

The services include complete physical examinations, CHDP exams, childhood immunizations, lead poisoning screening, tuberculosis screening, disease-specific treatment for asthma and diabetes, hearing screening, health problems counseling, nutrition education, gynecological services, pregnancy testing, prenatal care, well-baby care, and WIC health assessments. A mobile health unit serves downtown Los Angeles and South Los Angeles locations on a rotating schedule. Call for locations.

CHDP provides regular, preventive health assessments and developmental assessments for children from birth to age 21 who are Medi-Cal eligible and for children from birth through age 18 whose family income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level. The check-ups are offered at set intervals and may include the required Head Start or State Preschool and pre-first grade exams.

While there are no geographic limitations the clinic primarily serves people from economically disadvantaged and underserved families who live in the inner city surrounding the facility. The center does not provide services for people who need emergency or specialized medical services; however, staff can refer families to other resources.
