Health/Disability Related Counseling ( Breast Cancer )

Provider: SISTERS BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS NETWORK

The program provides health services related to breast cancer for people in Los Angeles County. Services include breast self examination instruction, health problems counseling for women with, or recovering from breast cancer, a health/disability related support group for breast cancer survivors and a specialized information and referral for breast cancer information. There are no geographic restrictions.

The counseling is one-on-one with a licensed counselor who is also a breast cancer survivor. Services are personalized for each individual.

The support group is facilitated and often times has speakers who give information on a variety of topics related to breast cancer. Lunch is also served at the support group. There are also topical group discussions that occur. It is an ongoing group. There is also a buddy system that is utilized for women to have support with another individual.

The meetings are held in the cafeteria at Hubert H. Humphrey Comprehensive Health Center, 5850 S. Main St., Los Angeles, CA 90003. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for more information about the meetings. Appointments are required for counseling. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for service.
