The clinic provides mental health services for children age birth to 25 years of age, and their families, who are mentally ill, have emotional and behavioral disabilities, or who have been abused or neglected in Central and South Los Angeles. Services include adolescent/youth counseling, child guidance services, early intervention for mental illness services, infant and early childhood mental health, family counseling services, group counseling services, home based mental health services, in person crisis intervention services, mental health evaluation services, developmental screening, parent counseling, play therapy, psychiatric day treatment services, psychiatric disorder counseling services, psychiatric medication monitoring services, special education services and wraparound facilitation community support. The agency also provides life skills education for former foster youth who are transitioning to live independently. Services are provided at three community-based centers in South Los Angeles (see sites for details), at 23 local schools, at a health center and a domestic violence shelter, in clients' homes, and in other community settings. Geographic and age restrictions apply for some programs.

Outpatient services are provided through the Access and Wellness Center; services include mental health evaluation, psychological testing, medication management and treatment for a wide range of problems including school problems, conduct problems, and emotional difficulties. Crisis intervention is available.

The clinic operates intensive outpatient and psychiatric day treatment programs which blend counseling, family support and academic services. Services include a secondary junior and senior high special education school and intensive service programs for children age 11.5 through 22 years; after-school day treatment for children age 5 through 10 years, and early intervention services for children 6 years and under. These services are provided at the Exposition and University Park sites.

The Developmental Screening program for children, age birth to six years, is offered to parents who have concern about the developmental progress of their child. A screening tool, Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ or ASQ-SE), is administered by a multi-disciplinary team in the clinic setting, client's home, or preschool location. Parents are then provided with the results and recommendations for further services and/or offered education in strategies in working with their child on their skills deficits.

Treatment services include outpatient mental health, therapeutic preschool, an intense day treatment program, individual and family therapy, Play-based therapy, Dyadic therapy, and parenting education. The agency works with the entire family including parents, guardians and siblings during counseling. Staff also provide medication and monitoring. Staff are trained in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P).

Individual special education plans are implemented for students who are unable to attend public school because of diagnosed psychiatric disorders which may include major psychoses like schizophrenia, depression, or impulse control disorders. Children in this program are at the Exposition Park site clinic 6 hours daily. Transportation is provided to the local community. Activities are provided which focus on positive self-concept, therapeutic play, and creative expression through art, movement and music.
