Independent Living Skills Instruction
Provider: ACTIVITIES, RECREATION AND CARE (ARC)
The agency provides services for people with developmental disabilities ages 18 to 59 who live in Los Angeles County. Services include independent adult basic education, adult day programs, independent living skills instruction, recreational activities/sports, recreational/leisure/arts instruction, respite care, and volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.
Therapeutic recreation and socialization activities include arts and crafts, sports, and training for the Special Olympics. The agency also offers adaptive living services, and special weekend trips. Activities for adults and young adults include a hand bell choir, a young adult social club, independent living skills training and classes, and other activities.
Volunteer opportunities are available to high school students, college students, and other adults. The volunteer program is targeted, but not restricted, to people who may wish to become special education teachers.

There are no fees for service. Small donations are occasionally requested.
