Individual Advocacy ( TANF Recipients, Hispanic/Latino Community, Abused Women )
Provider: AMANECER COMMUNITY COUNSELING SERVICE
The program provides welfare-to-work support services to people who receive or are eligible to receive CalWORKs and live in Los Angeles County. Services include case/care management, domestic violence support groups, general counseling services, individual advocacy, mental health evaluation, psychiatric case management, spouse/domestic partner abuse counseling and welfare rights assistance. Services are targeted, but not restricted, to Spanish-speaking women. The agency serves people who live, primarily, in the Metro area of Los Angeles County, SPA 4; however, there are no geographic restrictions.
Domestic violence services offered include case management, individual advocacy, mutual support groups, spousal abuse counseling, transitional services such as job placement and welfare rights assistance. Mental health services may include general counseling, including individual, couple and family therapy; medication monitoring; mental health evaluation; and psychiatric case management.
If the child of a CalWORKs recipient has a mental or emotional disorder which constitutes a barrier to the woman's employment or further participation in the CalWORKs program, the program provides assessment, child guidance, family counseling and parenting skills development under the same conditions as the recipient. The program serves youth from birth to age 18. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for an intake appointment. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
