Individual Counseling ( Low Income )

The program provides outpatient mental health services for children and their families in Los Angeles County. Services include adolescent/youth counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, infant and early childhood mental heath, and individual, family and group counseling for low-income families that receive Medi-Cal. Children's age may range from 2 to 17 years. There are no geographic restrictions, however age and income requirements apply. Services are restricted to Medi-Cal recipients.
Children may be referred from DCFS, schools, or other social service agencies. Parents may call to self-refer. The program also provides mental health services for foster children from their program.
Treatment includes a full assessment, individual child therapy and family focused therapies. Types of therapies employed may include trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, child/parent psychotherapy, interpersonal therapies, and include parent education and involvement. Special programs exist for young children, school-aged children and their parents, and adolescents.
The Wraparound program meets the needs of children with complicated, multi-dimensional problems. Children may be referred by the courts or by DCFS. The approach involves the development of a child and family team which creates and implements a wraparound plan that identifies a set of community services and natural supports to promote success, safety, and permanence in home, school and community. The program serves referred children from L A County SPAs 1, 2 and 7. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call to apply; an appointment is required for assessment and counseling. Proof of Medi-Cal enrollment is required. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for Medi-Cal recipients; private pay would range to $160 per hour.
