The agency provides financial assistance restricted to active duty, retired, and auxiliary personnel of the Coast Guard, its civilian employees and their families in the United States. Services include interest free loans, personal financial counseling, and undesignated temporary financial assistance. There are no geographic restrictions.

Interest free loans may be awarded to assist with adoption costs, education, emergency medical and dental costs, and unforeseen financial need.

Personal financial counseling includes debt management assistance, financial counseling, and financial planning.

Undesignated temporary financial assistance may be awarded to assist with such things as emergency home repair, emergency travel expenses, funeral expenses, loss of funds, to recover from fire and other disasters, and to temporarily cover living expenses. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Qualifying individuals should contact their local CGMA representative. Information can be found on the CGMA website regarding applications and local representatives. This may involve faxing a completed application. Valid Coast Guard ID, Leave and Earning Statements, copies of relevant repair bills, estimates, and eviction notices are required. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
