The CDC centers provide public awareness/education on a wide range of public health and safety issues for the general public and for professional responders to local, national, and global emergencies. Services include disease control advisories, epidemic investigation, food safety advisories, general disaster preparedness information, Internet information resources on public health issues, and public health advisories.

Areas of focus include diseases and conditions such as AIDS, Birth Defects, Cancer, Developmental Disabilities, Diabetes, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Flu, Hepatitis, STDs, and global disease epidemics such as Malaria, Polio, SARS and TB. They also are involved in the study of healthy living issues such as food safety, bone health, physical activity, immunizations, and smoking prevention.

The center is also active in prevention education and statistical data on public health concerns such as air pollution, injury, violence and safety topics, and workplace safety and health issues. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call the hotline; access the website or email for other methods of information. The center supports a 12-hour hotline, a website, RSS feeds and Podcasts, newsletters, listservs on various topics, and is available on many social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and You Tube.
