211 LA provides comprehensive and specialized information and referral to health and human services for people of all ages in Los Angeles county. Specialized services include CalFresh screening; housing assessment for homeless families; and the Safely Surrendered Baby Hotline for the state of California. The agency maintains a database of resources accessible to the public online. There are no geographic restrictions.

Community Resource Advisors assess callers' needs to provide information, referral or linkage with community agencies, and follow up as appropriate. Staff can conference callers who are in crisis directly with emergency resources. Information and referral is also provided in-person at the Edmund D. Edelman Children's Court.

The Safely Surrendered Baby Hotline provides information about the Safe Haven Law which allows pregnant women who are in crisis to anonymously relinquish their newborn babies. Staff assess the callers' needs and provide referrals to authorized safe surrender sites statewide, along with other support services.
