Internship Programs ( Animal/Pet Issues )

The zoo provides volunteer opportunities for adults and adolescents in Los Angeles County. Services include animal services volunteer opportunities, internship programs, and teaching/instruction volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.
Volunteers are given extensive training and orientation to the zoo and the animals.
Adult volunteers may work in the education programs as docents, school presenters, or with guided tours. There are also many support positions at the zoo; most are not directly involved with the animals. Docents receive a 23 week training through UCLA extension in presenting techniques and educational methods.
