The agency provides services for children and adults who have developmental disabilities, including emotional delays, autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, learning/intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, speech and language impairments, traumatic brain injuries or other disabilities in Los Angeles County The agency offers a range of services for young children, ages 0 to 3, for the K-12 school-aged population ages 5 to 22, and for adults, ages 18 and older. Age restrictions apply for some services; there are no geographic restrictions.
Services include diagnostic, rehabilitation, social services, and information and referral.
The Early Start program provides home- and center-based early intervention services for children from birth to age three who have any type of developmental disability or delay, as well as family counseling and support services to their families or primary caregivers. An individualized plan is developed with the family to maximize awareness, physical abilities, learning potential, and speech development. The program includes parent support, education, and counseling, parent/infant groups, and individual work with the child.
The ECF Kayne Eras Center (KEC) is a comprehensive educational and therapeutic service center. The Center is comprised of ECF Kayne Eras School, a K-12 Non-Public School for children with varying special needs; and the Therapeutic Services Program, which offers a range of interventions and treatments for Kayne Eras School students and students at surrounding neighborhood schools.
The Art Center Program encourages, assists and supports maximum personal artistic development for adults with developmental disabilities at four sites throughout Los Angeles County.
The Developmental Activity Center Program provides full-day services five days a week that includes vital training in self-help, domestic, vocational, recreational, social and community use skills for adults age 18 and older.
Work Activity Services offer adults with developmental disabilities the opportunity to earn a paycheck as they learn to perform work-related skills. This program provides full-day services five days a week that include assessment of work and task-related skills, on-the-job training and support, on-site educational classes and ongoing support.
The Supported Employment Program offers adults with developmental disabilities an array of services to support them in successful placement in work opportunities in the community. The program screens and trains participants for work and matches them with community employers, and also arranges for the participant's salary during training. The trainee becomes a non-subsidized, permanent employee following training if his or her performance is satisfactory.
The Residential Services Program offers adults with developmental disabilities a variety of living arrangements coupled with in-home living skills training and support services. In addition to providing safe and comfortable housing, the primary goal of the program is to foster the highest level of independence through full and proactive home and community involvement. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call the main office for information. Some services require a referral from Regional Center. Students are typically referred to Kayne Eras School by their local school districts through the Individualized Education Program process. FEES/ PAYMENT SOURCE Fees for most programs and clients are paid by the Regional Center; fees for Kayne Eras School students are paid through contracts with public school districts and charter schools.
