Job Search/Placement ( TANF Recipients )

Provider: LOS ANGELES CITY COLLEGE - CALWORKS OFFICE

The college provides academic, occupational and community education programs primarily for adults who live in the Los Angeles Community College District. A limited number of non-residents are accepted for enrollment.

The two-year academic program is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university. The occupational programs qualify people for vocational licensure. Community education programs are designed to address people's self-improvement, cultural enrichment, and recreational interests.

Special services for CalWORKs participants include education, training, job placement and support services. Services include adult basic education, GED instruction, English as a Second Language and vocational ESL, prejob guidance, job training, job search/placement, vocational education and work study programs. CalWORKs participants meet with a case manager who helps design an academic and work experience program to meet the individual goals of each participant. TANF recipients are entitled to free child care subsidies and transportation assistance.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in for information about registration, courses, and tuition. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Fees are $46 per unit for California residents.
