Leadership Development ( Youth )

Provider: YWCA GREATER LOS ANGELES - COMPTON EMPOWERMENT CENTER

The organization provides youth services for young people who live in the Compton and greater Los Angeles area. Services include conflict resolution, extended day care for middle school youth, leadership development programs for young women, and youth violence prevention. The YWCA focuses on women and girls but men and boys may also join. There are no geographic restrictions.

The organization's Y-Teens program, offered as an afterschool program in LAUSD middle schools, provides leadership development opportunities for young people age 12 to 17. Community service projects encourage the development of leadership skills and enhance personal growth. Participants meet weekly. People who live in the Compton area may contact the group to request assistance with projects which the group could address as a community service. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in to apply. Membership is required for participation in all classes and most activities. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Membership fees vary. An individual youth membership is $10 and an individual adult membership, $25. Additional class and activity fees vary.
