The institute provides public awareness/education on issues related to mental health and mental disorders for health care practitioners, researchers and the general public, throughout the United States. Services include disease/disability information on mental illnesses, brochures, pamphlets and other materials. Some materials are available in Spanish. There are no geographic restrictions.

The NIMH cannot provide medical advice or practitioner referrals.

The institute works to transform the understanding and treatment of mental illnesses through basic and clinical research, paving the way for prevention, recovery, and cure.
