This agency provides mental health services for chronically mentally-ill adults and young adults, ages 17 to 65. Services include independent living skills instruction, psychiatric case management and psychiatric day treatment. Services are targeted, but not restricted, to people who are in South Central Los Angeles, Mid-Wilshire, and Central Los Angeles.

The program goal is to help people gain the skills and resources they need to move into a more stable and independent living situation. The programs allows residents to gain social skills, and vocational skills.

Case management services provide supportive services, referral to other community services not provided by the agency, and follow up monitoring of the services by a case manager.

The Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Services program provides mental health and case management services for young adults, age 17 to 21. In addition, the program provides housing, supportive services and housing referrals for permanent housing at the close of the program. These services are provided at the Wilshire Mental Health Center site.

The program also provides outpatient mental health services in a day treatment program. The agency sponsors the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program that provides comprehensive mental health and psychiatric case management services for people who live in the Metro Los Angeles County Planning Area (SPA 4). Day treatment services are provided at the agency's Wilshire Mental Health Center location.

The AB2034 Program provides case management and mental health services for homeless mentally ill and formerly incarcerated people with serious and persistent mental illness at the Wilshire Mental Health Center Community Connections site and at the Mariposa Club House site.

The agency also provides an MHSA funded Wellness Center to provide services and support to mental health clients who are in recovery and no longer need intensive mental health services. The Wellness Center provides self-help mental health support groups; peer to peer support groups; social/recreational activities; medication evaluation and support services; employment and education services, and integrated services and support for co-occurring disorders, such as substance abuse.

In addition the centers provide physical health screenings, and assistance with referrals to health care providers. The program also provides healthy living and health management education. Referrals are given for, housing possibilities, benefit maintenance and short term or crisis mental health services APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call to apply. An appointment is required.
