Mentoring Programs ( HIV Infections, Asian Community )

Provider: SPECIAL SERVICE FOR GROUPS - ASIAN PACIFIC AIDS INTERVENTION TEAM

The agency provides HIV/AIDS services for Asians and Pacific Islanders, who are monolingual or who have minimal English skills, in Los Angeles county. Services include advocacy, mentoring programs, case management, disease/disability information on HIV infection and AIDS, general counseling services, health related support groups, outreach programs for HIV positives and transgender at-risk populations and a rent payment assistance. There are no geographic restrictions.

The project provides linguistically appropriate outreach to the Asian and Pacific Islander communities. Education, prevention and outreach services are also targeted to gay/bisexual men, youth, women and transgender persons.

Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention team (APAIT) helps provide access to the L A City Housing Department HOPWA rent payment assistance program for eligible participants. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for information. Financial grants from HOPWA require picture ID, application form, diagnosis of HIV disease by a qualified California physician, rent agreement and proof of residence. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for service.
