Ongoing Emergency Food Assistance

Ongoing Emergency Food Assistance

The program provides emergency food for low-income people of all ages who live in the city of San Gabriel, including homeless people. Services include ongoing emergency food assistance. Services are available for single people, couples, and families, regardless of their religion, source of income or citizenship. The contents of the bags vary but usually include staples such as beans, rice and pasta; canned goods; and infant formula and baby food, if available. People should have cooking facilities for the food. The amount of food provided varies according to family size and is enough to last three days. People may register for ongoing assistance once per month. Services are restricted to San Gabriel residents who live within San Gabriel Mission Parish. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Walk in for ongoing emergency food assistance. Program staff complete a form for all emergency food applicants and make home visits when circumstances require ongoing services. Picture ID or proof of address, such as a utility bill or rent receipt, is required from head of household and other adults; people who do not have ID are assisted one time only. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for services.
