The organization provides recreational programs for individuals and families and first aid and safety programs for families of children age 0 to 5. Services include water safety, parent/infant swimming instruction, day camps, Y facilities, recreational activities/sports, youth enrichment programs, parent/child activity groups, and physical activity and fitness education for older adults. Services are provided at the YMCA Branch locations: Fairfield Family YMCA, Los Altos YMCA, Los Cerritos YMCA, and Weingart-Lakewood. There are low-income requirements for swimming and water safety instruction; there are no income limits for CPR instruction. Families living in the Greater Long Beach area, including Bellflower, Los Altos, Lakewood and Los Cerritos communities are eligible.

The Splash It Up program is funded by First 5 LA. Its goal is to improve aquatic safety for children 6 months to 5 years old. The program includes swimming lessons for children 6 months to 2 years (with parents) and 3 to 5 year olds. The parent-child swim lessons teach water safety including CPR, healthy lifestyles and parenting tips while parents interact with their children (6 months to 3 years old) in the water. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call the main office for information; call or walk into any YMCA branch in the Greater Long Beach area to apply. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Fees are based on a sliding scale, $0 and up, based on income.
