Physical Fitness ( Older Adults )


The agency provides a variety of recreational and family supportive services primarily for people who live in the La Puente/Hacienda Heights area. Services include day camps, physical fitness, recreational activities/sports, residential camps, swimming/swimming lessons and Y facilities. Services are provided at various locations. There are no geographic restrictions.

Membership is not required for participation in activities. The program provides fitness class, including a fitness class for senior citizens; a summer aquatic program which utilizes Hacienda/La Puente Unified School District pools and Bassett High School facilities; and an annual 5K/10K walk/run and 1K youth race.

The program also offers summer day and resident camping opportunities for youth. Club YMCA provides youth in grades six to nine camping and sports opportunities; the Adventure Guide programs provide parent/child activities for families which include youth in kindergarten through grade three or grades four through six.

The Y operates Camp Elk in Wrightwood which offers year-round facility rentals and specialty camps for kids and families. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call, walk in or visit the agency's web site for information. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Membership fees vary with the individual's age, family composition and the type of activities preferred. There are set fees for day camp and other activities.
