The center provides recreational programs primarily for residents of Belmont Shores, East Long Beach, Los Alamitos, Los Altos, Naples and Seal Beach; however, people from other areas are welcome. Services include day camps, guidance and counseling, physical fitness, recreational activities/sports, recreational/leisure/arts instruction, residential camps and Y facilities.

The center offers year-round classes that include recreational, instructional, and fitness swimming; lifesaving; gym/pool movement for mothers and infants age 6 to 24 months; karate; healthy lifestyles; aerobics; jogging; and weight training. Personalized fitness evaluations are available and include cardiovascular and endurance tests. The center also offers several camping activities for the family, including summer day, resident, holiday and caravan camping programs.

Special youth activities are also available for older children. The Youth in Government Program is for children in tenth through twelfth grades; Model United Nations is for children in seventh through ninth grades. The program focus is on building leadership skills and involving youth in the government process. The program meets at the YMCA facility.

A Counselor-in-Training program is available during the summer for teens age 15 through 17 which provides the opportunity for teens to work with younger children. Additionally, during the summer a College Campus club is offered to high-school juniors and seniors, in which they tour different southern California colleges once a week. The group meets on Wednesday, 7:00am to 4:30pm, during which time general and admissions information about the school toured that day is distributed. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in for information. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Membership is required for participation in activities; membership dues range from $20 to $50 per month. Fees for classes and activities vary. Financial assistance is available for low-income families.
