The department provides recreational programs for people of all ages in Compton. Services include adult and youth sports instruction and leagues in baseball, basketball, bowling, football, golf, soccer, swimming and tennis. The city recreation facilities include two swimming pools, a community center, six recreation centers, and a three-hole golf course.

The program, called Our Children's Development (OCD), explores cultural, educational, historical and recreational programs. Teen programs include the Teens/Adults Activities Progam (TAAPS) an adult/youth mentoring program.

Aquatics programs include swimming lessons, a swim day camp program, and open recreational swim times. Classes for Lifeguard Training and Water Safety Instruction are provided.

The golf course has special programs for youth under 18, for seniors and special "ladies day" events, in addition to regular golf course play. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in for information. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE Fees vary. Summer camp has fixed fees, call for information. Sports leagues pay an entry fee, which varies according to the age level and sport. Golf green fees are $5, senior and ladies day green fees are $3.
