Physical Therapy ( Youth, Spina Bifida )

Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH - CALIFORNIA CHILDREN'S SERVICES MEDICAL THERAPY PROGRAM

The program provides health services for children from birth to 21 years old with certain medical conditions. Services include occupational therapy and physical therapy for children. There are no geographic restrictions.

Eligible medical conditions which would qualify for this program include, but are not limited to: cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, rheumatoid arthritis, spinal cord injuries, arthrogyroposis, and osteogenesis imperfecta.

Occupational therapy is provided to address self help skills or Activities of Daily Living (ADL). It uses a variety of therapeutic techniques to improve the ability to be independent with everyday activities.

Physical therapy is provided to address mobility and ambulation skills. It may provide exercises and activities to improve strength and/or coordination that impede mobility skills. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for information. Anyone, such as a parent, teacher, school nurse, or physician can refer a child to the program. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for therapy services.
