The medical center provides hospital services for people of all ages in Los Angeles. Services include emergency room care, education, a hyperbaric chamber, outpatient services, rehabilitation, and sick child care. There are no geographic restrictions.

Specialized services provided by the center include cancer care; diagnostic services; disaster services; a cardiology department; a dialysis unit; a maternity center which includes a neonatal intensive care unit; and 12 operating sites for major and minor surgery.

The health education department provides a variety of short-term health education classes for the public as well as a physician referral service. Classes are available for exercise, weight control, and smoking cessation.

The rehabilitation department provides occupational therapy; physical therapy; treatment for communicative disorders; rehabilitative nursing; psychological and social services; and educational training. Services are available to individuals who suffer from chronic or persistent pain.

The cardiac rehabilitation program provides inpatient and outpatient evaluation and education services for adults who have cardiac and diseases. People may participate in group sessions and lectures.

The maternity center provides prenatal and post partum care, labor and delivery services, a perinatal high risk unit and an alternative birth center. Inpatient and outpatient services are available.

The diabetes treatment clinician provides information about the control of diabetes, blood sugar tests, counseling and treatment.

The radiology department offers low-cost mammography screening for women age 35 and older who are not pregnant, have no history of breast cancer and have not had a mammogram in the past year.

The Child Care Connections program provides sick child care for children ages three months to 12 years who have minor illnesses or injuries. Parents who need to go to work may leave their child in the care center. Mildly ill includes such things as flu-like symptoms, low grade fevers, asthma, congestion, cough and ear infections. Children must be pre-registered. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call to apply or walk in for emergency room service. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are fixed fees; Medi-Cal, Medicare and private insurance are accepted. The fee for the Child Care Connections program is $6 per hour.
