Prevocational Training ( Hard of Hearing )

Provider: GOODWILL, SERVING THE PEOPLE OF SOUTHERN LOS ANGELES COUNTY

The agency provides services for individuals of all ages who are deaf or hard of hearing in Los Angeles County. Services include independent living skills instruction, job search/placement assistance, prevocational training, supported employment, workshops related to disabilities issues, and vocational rehabilitation. Age restrictions apply for some services; there are no geographic restrictions.

Job training is provided for individuals age 16 and older in medical, industry, custodial, assembly and warehouse occupations; a paid work activity program for severely disabled people is also available. To be eligible for the program individuals must be interested in a career in the field for which they will be trained and able to attend class for six hours per day, Monday through Friday. The program includes a preliminary evaluation and interview, a ten-day job training trial period, comprehensive job training, and job placement. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call for information; most clients referred by the Department of Rehabilitation, the Department of Veteran's Affairs - Chapter 31, Regional Center or other funding agency. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees to clients.
