Psychiatric Medication Monitoring

Psychiatric Medication Monitoring

Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH - WEST CENTRAL FAMILY MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

The agency provides outpatient mental health evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and case management services for adults age 18 and older who live in the area bounded by Washington on the north, Manchester on the south, La Cienega on the west, and the Harbor Freeway on the east. The agency's target population is adults who are chronically mentally ill or in crisis.

The services provided include evaluation for voluntary or involuntary psychiatric hospitalization; evaluation for medication and medication supervision; short-term individual, family, and group therapy, as needed; and rehabilitation activities. In addition, staff provide counseling, case management, and supportive services for adults who have been discharged from state, county, and county-contract psychiatric hospitals to help them make the transition back to the community and prevent rehospitalization. The agency does not provide services for people whose primary problem is alcohol or drug abuse or for people who live outside the area, but can refer to other resources. There are services available for dual diagnosed (drug and mental illness).

The agency also provides a Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) funded Wellness Center to provide services and support to mental health clients who are in recovery and no longer need intensive mental health services. The Wellness Center provides self-help mental health support groups; peer to peer support groups; social/recreational activities; medication evaluation and support services; employment and education services, and integrated services and support for co-occurring disorders, such as substance abuse.

In addition the centers provide physical health screenings, and assistance with referrals to health care providers. The program also provides healthy living and health management education. Referrals are given for, housing possibilities, benefit maintenance and short term or crisis mental health services.

The Veterans And Loved Ones Recovery (VALOR) program provides veteran reintegration counseling and support for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Military Sexual Trauma (MST) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) for veterans and their immediate families and dependents.
