Public Speaking Volunteer Opportunities ( Reproductive Issues )

The organization provides volunteer opportunities for adolescents and adults living in Los Angeles County. Volunteer opportunities include helping with fundraising events, handywork, helpline staffing, interviewing, public speaking and thrift shop support, related to reproductive and right-to-life issues. Additionally, the agency recruits and trains adults to work with other agency programs. There are no geographic restrictions.

Fundraising volunteers are women who participate in the agency's Women's Auxiliary. The Women's Auxiliary holds an annual membership luncheon and sponsor a Mother's Day fundraiser.

Handyworker volunteers perform small repairs and touch-up painting at agency centers.

Helpline volunteers act as Helpline Listeners on the agency's 24 hour helpline. Helpline volunteers, who may work on-site at the agency or our of their own homes, help connect clients with agency services.

Interview volunteers work at the agency and help connect clients with agency services.

Public speaking volunteers staff a table at community events to publicize the agency.

Thrift shop volunteers sort, tag, fold and hang maternity and baby clothing that has been donated to the agency.

The agency provides training to all volunteers. Training for Helpline Volunteers is provided one time a year, in the fall. Please contact the agency for more training information. In addition to the initial training, volunteers are encouraged to participate in on-going agency training sessions. Volunteers are not required to take any tests or pay any fees. Volunteers who work on-site must pass a TB test. There is no age limit to volunteer, however, volunteers must have a valid government issue identification. The agency does complete background checks. Volunteers are not required to commit to any length of services. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or access the agency website at http://rtllsc.org to apply to volunteer.
