Recreational Activities/Sports ( Poverty Level )

The program provides wilderness and environmental education activities for people age 10 and older who have special needs. Activities and wilderness experiences are offered for people who have visual or hearing impairments or who have physical, emotional or developmental disabilities and for youth who are economically disadvantaged. One to six day trips are planned year-round and include whitewater rafting, cross country skiing and sea kayaking excursions. In addition to offering social and recreational experiences, trips are designed to develop participants' self-esteem and to enable them to better understand themselves in relation to each other and the environment. There are no geographic restrictions. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Individuals and groups may call, email/write or visit the agency's website for information about wilderness and environmental activities. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are fixed fees and depends upon the length of the trip and the type of activity provided; scholarships are available.
