Recreational/Leisure/Arts Instruction

The department offers a variety of recreational programs for residents of Pomona. Facilities include two public pools (open seasonally), tennis courts, basketball courts, softball fields, skate park, and a band shell which features summer concerts. Services include recreational/leisure/arts instruction such as classes in arts, crafts, karate and dance; parks/recreation areas; and health and fitness. After school and summer recreation programs for youth are available at various community centers. The after school program includes a homework assistance program to assist youth in the completion of their school work; Recreation activities such as sports, crafts and games are also provide to youth.
A congregate meals program for seniors, age 60 and older, and other services for older adults are available through the Community Services Department; see separate entry. Age, income, and geographic restrictions apply to some programs. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in for service. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are fixed fees depending on the activity.
