Spouse/Intimate Partner Abuse Counseling ( General Relief Recipients, Abused Women )

The program provides Probation Department and CalWORKs approved domestic violence services for individuals in Los Angeles County. Services include abuse counseling, and spouse/domestic partner abuse counseling. Services are targeted to battered men and women, and male and female batterers. There are no geographic restrictions.
Services include community education, family violence outreach and prevention programs and provides victim support services for CalWORKs recipients.
The institute provides professional continuing education and technical assistance and sponsors research activities. It also provides reports to the Probation Department for court-referred batterers.
52-week Batterers' programs are restricted to court-referred individuals and include same-gender group counseling, individual counseling, parenting skills development and psychological assessment.
Family violence outreach and prevention programs include an ongoing media campaign and community education programs. The media campaign includes the production of monthly educational programs on local public access cable.
Victim support services are restricted to CalWORKs recipient families and include case management, client advocacy, court preparation, family counseling, individual counseling, linkages to social services and TRO assistance. Transportation and child care are provided. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call to apply; an appointment is required. Intake for both sites is done through the main phone line. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for CalWORKs participants and family members; otherwise, fees are set on a sliding scale which depends on the client's income. Medi-Cal, Medicare and private insurance are accepted.
