The agency provides recreational programs for individuals in Los Angeles County. Services include aquarobics/aquatic exercise, recreational activities/sports, swimming facilities, swimming/swimming lessons and special olympics. There are no geographic restrictions.

The Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks operates year-round pools at several city locations. A variety of activities are provided including recreational swimming, swimming lessons, programs for people who have disabilities and other classes for all age groups. Recreational activities/sports include team sports swimming such as swimming, synchronized swimming and springboard diving.

Special Olympics provides an opportunity for people with mental and physical disabilities an opportunity to join a swim team to train and compete in Special Olympic events

APPLICATION PROCEDURE Call or walk in for service. FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There is a fee of $4.00 for individuals, ages 18 to 49, $1 for children 0 to 17, $1 for older adults 50 and older, and $1 for persons with disabilities (all ages). There are fixed fees for swimming lessons; there are sponsorships for free swimming lessons at some swimming facilities, call the facility for information. There are fixed fees for team sports swimming.
