The agency provides law enforcement services for the city of San Gabriel. Services include abandoned vehicle reporting/removal, after-hours animal control and after-hours dead animal pickup, crime prevention, emergency protective orders, law enforcement complaints, municipal police, neighborhood watch programs, police reports, sexual assault prevention, and temporary restraining orders services. The service area is restricted to the city of San Gabriel.

Temporary restraining order assistance is provided on a short term (72 hrs.), emergency basis only. Regular TROs must be applied for at a Superior Court location.
The department accepts after-hours calls about dead animal pickup and animal control within the city; this does not include the areas that are part of unincorporated county.

The department provides referrals to juvenile delinquency diversion counseling programs. In addition, the agency coordinates and provides a number of crime prevention programs like Neighborhood Watch, bicycle safety, rape prevention and a public school visitation program that is staffed by uniformed officers.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE In an emergency, call 9-1-1. Call or walk in for non-emergency services or for information. For police reports, walk in to request a copy. Only victims or authorized representatives of victims are able to receive police reports.

FEES/PAYMENT SOURCE There are no fees for most services; there are fixed fees for police reports.
